Ray Lovett

Dr Raymond Lovett is an NHMRC Early Career Fellow and Program Leader of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research group at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, The Australian National University. He is an Aboriginal (Wongaibon) epidemiologist with extensive experience in health services research, public health policy development and evaluation experience. The emphasis of Dr Lovett’s research has involved the integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture with improving health outcomes and health services. He has an additional focus on administrative and health services data to change policy and practice. Dr Lovett’s post-doctoral include the conduct and analysis of large-scale collaborative studies, including the 45 and Up Study focused on analysis of tobacco use among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants. He has strong links within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community locally and nationally and maintains a strong connection with the community controlled health sector. He is currently leading the development of Australia's first national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adult cohort study.
