Ashlea Gillon

Ashlea Gillon is Māori of Ngāti Awa whakapapa. She works as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Te Kupenga Hauora Māori (Māori Health Department) at The University of Auckland and is a Master of Public Health student specialising in Māori health. Her thesis specifically looks at social assignment and Māori identity of Māori who self-identify as Māori but report that they get socially assigned as Pākehā/European-Non-Māori often in relation to identity and wellbeing.
